Live performance with singer

Brown University Grant Recital Hall

Max/MSP | MIDI Hardware Design | Performance Technology

In this project, I designed an interactive MIDI board equipped with two light sensors, enabling real-time sound modulation through light input during live performance. One sensor controls the pitch while the other adjusts the volume, allowing the performer to dynamically shape their vocal expression through physical interaction with light.

In the Max/MSP, theres is a jitter-based visualizations, enabling the audience to see how the sound travels across different tracks in response to light. This multisensory experience deepens the audience's emotional engagement with the music by bridging visual and auditory elements in real time.

The setup invites both performer and audience into a shared, responsive environment—transforming light into a powerful tool for sonic storytelling.
